Facilities
"A bright, engaging and stimulating environment."
Our school building dates from the 1960s, and has all the benefits of the period - large classrooms let in plenty of daylight, with most classes opening onto the outdoors areas; wide and spacious corridors and a large assembly/dining-hall with high ceilings.
In recent years we have extensively developed our outdoors areas. Our Forest School is in a dedicated area of our playground, and all of our children have weekly sessions with professionals from The Garden Classroom who specialise in Forest School provision.

Playground Equipment
We have recently several new and stimulating playground equipment in our outdoor areas. Children develop their physical strength, coordination, and balance. Climbing, swinging, and sliding stimulate motor skills and confidence. Outdoor play also boosts creativity and problem-solving, and the children love play-times.
Outdoors Areas for Early Years
We are very lucky to have two large outdoor areas specifically for our nursery and reception classes. A large part of the children's day is spent learning outside, where children can paint, climb, write, read and play. Being outside is great for children's health and wellbeing, as well as their learning.
Large and bright classrooms
Our early years and key stage one classrooms all open out on to the playground, to allow a seamless interaction between the inside and outside. Large windows mean bright and welcoming spaces for our children. All classrooms are fitted with the latest interactive whiteboards, and our children have ready access to mobile banks of tablets and PCs.
Forest School
We have dedicated a corner of our playground to be our on-site Forest School. Our children can fosters a deep connection with nature, enhancing their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Hands-on, outdoor learning, nurtures creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills.

Our Church
We have particularly strong ties with our church, St John of Jerusalem Church which is only a five minute walk away. The church is a very beautiful example of the neoclassical tradition, and as well as being a thriving parish church, St John at Hackney has also become known as a notable music venue, playing host to the likes of Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Robbie Williams, Griff and Interpol.
