Nursery and Early Years
"The school has high expectations of every child regardless of their starting point. Pupils are encouraged to learn collaboratively and grow together to realise their full potential." SIAMS
Our Nursery
The Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) is the framework that sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. Here at St-John of Jerusalem we offer Reception and Nursery, including 2-year-old provision (up to 15 hours- free on a part time basis).
We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, discover and grow through play based and structured activities. Our EYFS curriculum supports each child’s unique development laying out strong foundation for future learning and success.
We have adopted the Bug Club phonics scheme and follow Maths Mastery-Arc curriculum. The learning is hands on and practical and takes a child-led approach to promote independence and reasoning skills. We are proud to collaborate with outside agencies for extracurricular and enrichment learning such as having specialist teachers who teach Forest School, Music and Spanish lessons.
The Nursery is well staffed with a mixture of teachers, nursery nurses, teaching assistants and midday assistants. Staff work well together to plan a range of activities to meet the needs of the children throughout the setting.
We hold regular stay and play sessions every Wednesday from 9.30am to 10.30am. You are welcome to come and see for yourself. If you would like to enrol your child at Nursery/Reception please send an e-mail to: admin@st-johnjerusalem.hackney.sch.uk
