History

At St John of Jerusalem, our History Curriculum provides the children with a broad and engaging learning experience.  Through our curriculum, we celebrate the diversity of our school community.
History topics are planned using the National Curriculum and have been carefully sequenced to ensure that current learning builds on previous knowledge. In turn, pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.
As they move up the school, they are encouraged to work as historians to carry out enquiries: they ask questions, think critically, sift arguments and analyse both primary and secondary sources of evidence, to build their hypotheses about the past.
In turn, pupils at St John of Jerusalem understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process and reasons for change, the diversity of societies and the relationships between different groups.
